William Forsythe’s Lines part 2. Here’s the resource page link.
Shimmy warm up, figure 8’s, abdominal undulations down and up, 3/4 hips up, Tribal Fusion side arm waves from elbow, alternating with from shoulder - with footwork and drilling combinations.
This week we explored Line and Shape, then took a look at a few William Forsythe ideas about that, and after confirming that it blew our minds, we began playing with it :)
Here’s William
This week we shimmied, worked some drilling combinations with interior hip circles, figure 8’s and arms, as well as continuing our work with arm waves starting from different parts of the arm (I loved that last drill!).
Shimmy drill, waving from wrist/elbows/shoulders, arm waves from elbows.
Drilling concepts from Elegant Arms (concepts are briefly explained in case you haven’t taken the course).
Looking at organic ways to bring intention into arms as an extension of the Elegant Arms course. Using qualities (pull, push, grab, dab) and exploring options outside of the literal.
Fast and fluid phrases to La Mer also using elements from the Elegant Arms course.
Hands, Shoulders, Interior hip circles (without and with twists), figure 8’s down - drilling phrases
Working with the shoulder girdle to explore it’s range of motion, function and using it as a movement ‘engine’, also exploring leading and moving with the opposite end of the arm (the fingers) and elbow exploration.
Using repeated motifs and a variation of our original phrase with loopy and very fluid phrases. Music: Hold Me by AFAR, Laut & Luise
Shimmy drill, pelvis tilts and inverted v’s, hip diamonds and interior hip circles, elbow articulation in new waves, big and small arm undulations
