In Person Workshops
Toronto Workshops - Technique Based
We’ll begin with some general, creative movement guided with prompts, then move onto working to develop and refine our technique in structured drills.
The final portion of the workshops will center on learning a few dance combinations that integrate technique from earlier in the day, and short improvised sections based on our prompts that started us moving.
These workshops are open to those with any style of belly dance experience. Not recommended for absolute beginners.
All levels and styles are warmly welcomed, including those who have not danced in a short or long while.
These workshops are stand alone, however there is a discount offered if you register for more than one workshop at a time (this includes any combination of Toronto and Hamilton workshops).

Hamilton Workshops
Creation Based
We’ll begin with some general, creative movement guided with prompts for both the February and March workshops. From there, each workshop will be slightly different in its focus, though they both focus on improving your ability to observe and create impactful dance work. From improvisation through to choreography, these workshops are designed to teach you simple skills that will benefit the expression and visual impact of your dances.
These workshops are open to those with any style of belly dance experience. Not recommended for absolute beginners.
All levels and styles are warmly welcomed, including those who have not danced in a short or long while.
Let’s Start with This
Sunday, February 2: 1:00-4:00 pm with breaks
Upping the Ante
Sunday, March 9: 1:00-4:00 pm with breaks
Held at DMD, 624 Upper James Street, Hamilton
Upping the Ante
For March’s workshop, we’ll present prepared phrases (either done as homework or simple phrases by Audra taught day of) and discuss how we could work quickly and simply to “up the ante” as we strive for maximum impact and effectiveness. We’ll rework and discuss, and maybe even do that again.
Dancers will have the opportunity to share and reflect on what makes for an effective performance as a dancer and an audience member and how we can set ourselves up for simple gains every time we perform.
Please note: You do not have to have or be good at creating combinations, improvising or creating choreography to participate in these workshops. I’ll be providing various frameworks to use from the simple into the more complex. I strongly believe that if you’ve learned a single choreography, you have enough experience and knowledge to be able to be successful in this workshop.
Sunday, March 9
1:00-4:00 pm
My goal is to have an Incubator in Hamilton sometime in APRIL for those interested to share the work they create out of the workshops, as well as an open call for to share work created independently of the workshops.
Details on that to come!
Let’s Start with This
For February’s workshop, I’ll teach a few of my original combinations, and reveal how they focus on a central theme, engage with the structure of the music, and result in visually striking and captivating work.
Based on that structure, we explore its application in improvisation and choreography. Participants will have the opportunity to create their own phrases and combinations using this framework. (Optional) homework will be assigned that will be used in the March workshop.
