Boot Camp

Week 1 (01/18/23): Mechanics of down hips, diagonal downs, range of motion, quarter/eighth/sixteenth notes, 3/4. Our varying timing drill with arms - we’ll be doing this weekly.

Week 2 (01/25/23): Shimmy drill, down hips with stagger, unweighted into weighted downs, walking 3/4 down, work on our drill for the session.

Week 3 (02/02/23): Shimmy drill, undulations up, twists with down hips, our drill for the session

Week 4 (02/08/23): No class but here’s Boot Camp class from 09/29/20 with some visits from a tiny Doug, and work with shimmies, up hips, hand waves, shoulder/chest/undulation, interior hip circles - most of them with feet and arms.

Week 5 (02/15/23)
Shimmy drill, 3/4 down starting on the beat & starting before the beat (with a pick up), chest mobilization with chest tilts then short drill, finger and wrist circles.

Week 6 (02/22/23): Continuing our work with down hips, we took them side to side, did unweighted double downs. We worked a new drill with interior hip circles and twisting downs, did our down hips drill. Chest mobility and finger, wrist, elbow circles from last week were repeated and added to.

Creative Movement

Week 1: Time - repetition using changing time, unusual time, free play.

Week 2 (01/26/23): Duration - the length something takes, how long you 'do' something. Layering with Load/Unload. Layering with Open/Close. Trying Duration, Load/Unload and Open/Close together.

Week 3 (02/02/23): Long & short, spinner play

Week 4 (02/09/23): We worked with exploring space as if we were aliens, as if we’d never seen our space before, putting eye in various parts of our bodies. Looking from a distance as well as close up. But I didn’t record it (it’s been that kind of week). So instead, enjoy a recording from 101520 where we explore Space, Shape, Contrast and Direction.

Week 7 (03/02/23)
Working with Suspend, Swing, Percussive, Sustained

Week 8 (03/09/23)
Warming up with feet to head and back down to feet again. Unusual time: Greedily, Shudder, Slip.
Relationship between ribcage and pelvis, elbows and knees, hands and feet. Revisit unusual time.
